With the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic being felt heavily by the Clubs industry, DOOLEYS are proud to announce the success of our most recent Quarterly Funding Grants, the Autumn Funding Round.
DOOLEYS received 30 grant applications from organisations that are making incredible strides in our local community. The DOOLEYS Board of Directors have approved funding to 20 applications, amounting to a total of $186,298. This is the highest Quarterly Funding Round result since the pandemic began in 2020!
DOOLEYS funding priority, Community Health and Active Lifestyles, accounted for one third of the applications received. This has reinforced the elevated need in the community for health and wellbeing initiatives in response to challenges associated with the current global pandemic.

The Pyjama Foundation
The Pyjama Foundation is committed to changing the educational future of children in the foster care system and to therefore change the direction of their life path. As only 10% of foster children receive educational support, using DOOLEYS funding the Pyjama Foundation trains committed volunteers from the community to mentor a foster child in their home on a weekly basis. The volunteers meet with the children weekly to read, tutor and implement educational play, while offering a safe and trusted friendship.
The John Berne School
The John Berne School is a special co-educational school catering for disadvantaged youth who struggle to cope in mainstream school environments due to learning, social, emotional, behavioural or mental health disabilities. For many years now, DOOLEYS have provided funding for The Breakfast Program, which provides a free nutritious breakfast each morning before school and fresh fruit and yoghurt for morning tea for all students.
The Rainbow Club
Auburn Rainbow Club meet every Saturday afternoon at Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre in Auburn to provide swimming lessons to children with a disability. The demand for places in 2022 has been the highest in the Club’s 50-year history due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community and the need for increased social inclusion. DOOLEYS funding will cover teacher training, occupational therapist consultation, and inclusive pool equipment.
